Biography Born on: 1988, Mexico Kikyz1313 is an Mexican based artist under representation of Thinkspace Gallery, whose work encapsulates the duality of death in a tragically beautiful visual story. In many pieces, youthful innocents can be seen falling prey to the endless consumption of nature and the darker side of the processes that allow the continuation of life. Kikyz1313’s ink and watercolor techniques contribute to an overall ability that captures both the innocence of her young subjects, and the relentless decay that nature relies on to flourish. The ink work delivers the raw and disturbing overtones in gruesome detail, accompanied by an aggressive and emotional, yet soft use of color. Though Kikyz1313’s techniques are used to convey macabre elements pertaining to death and decay, these same skills are also used to convey beauty, innocence and emotion in many other aspects of each particular work. |
"I definitely think that the cultural context of every artist influences her/his work, and personally I believe it’s essential for the artwork to carry a social commentary because artists have a great responsibility to make a public statement on the failures of any system. If an artist's work evokes reactions and opinions in the audience, they can repair the gaps from it’s own society." - Kikyz1313
